Coupon codes rarely work. Prices are same as elsewhere, but will not negotiate. Not very friendly. Customer service is not knowledgeable or helpful.
Had two solid experiences. Made my orders. Received product. Things seemed normal. Until you have any issue. My first interaction with customer service was bizarre to say the least. They are either disrespectful and nonchalant. Or fairly friendly but cannot legitimately answer questions. They hard credit check even on items that specifically say “no credit check.” They are consistently dishonest about advertised shipping dates with fake countdown timers. They messed up my address twice, on their end, and tried to charge me a reroute fee for their mistake. I have not had a customer support member take any responsibility for a single issue (they deflect everything) nor explain how they resolved anything. I’m assuming this attitude is coming from management. Either a crappy culture at this place or a complete lack of training. As a small business owner I hate to say it but Amazon is winning for a reason. After several bad experiences with AMS, I have realized how good other retailers are. It was fun while it lasted AMS. Buyers beware....it is a gamble to shop here.
Hard credit checking is crappy.
I've spent thousands of dollars with this company, and I buy quite frequently, so I don't appreciate a hard credit check with every purchase... I mean one should suffice.
The WORST buying experience I’ve ever had in 35 years of music. Used their financing option online, order was cancelled. Called and spoke to a salesman and was informed the order would be seen through. Four days later it was cancelled. I had received an email the night before asking me to call to verify some info. I called first thing the next day, They had cancelled the order. Reason stated was that my email hadn’t been verified. They had my SSN, address, card info, an 811 credit score, etc., yet they cancelled more than a $1000.00 order because they stated I hadn’t verified my email. LOL. This is idiotic business. Went elsewhere and will never return to AMS, nor suggest them.
Horrible First Time Experience!!!!! I ordered a DJ controller for my Birthday on 10/07/2020 with a delivery date of 10/11/2020 by FEDEX. The package never showed up. Called AMS and they conducted A trace with FEDEX (5 working days). Package was never located by FEDEX. AMS then told me on 10/22/2020 the package was lost/stolen. Then was told that the product I was waiting on was on backorder. So I then requested a refund; I was told would take another 3-5 working days 10/25/2020. On 11/02/2020 I was told the refund was not processed, and I should wait another 3-5 working days. This is my FIRST and LAST Time doing business with this company.
I'm a professional music out in Oregon. I ordered a Firebird 1 LE Silvermist from American Musical Supply. The Firebird was quickly becoming my go to number one guitar. I was getting ready for a show at the beach last Saturday night opened the Firebird case and while polishing her up I noticed the Gibson fatal fracture on the back where the neck and headstock meet. I was devastated, I had never dropped this guitar. I talked to a friend that worked in the shipping department for Gibson in the past. He stated that if these guitars take a flat fall even in the case surrounded by packaging materials the gravity and inertia can put the fatal fracture in such a way that you won't even notice it until you change your strings a couple of times. Gabe and Al at AMS not only understood what I had to say, they found another Le silvermist in Mississippi. I had the original shipment over the 45 day grace period, but accepted my return. That would have been enough right there. They know that I play for a living, they went above and beyond what anyone would have expected. They flew that replacement guitar out to me NEXT DAY AIR..!!!
Do yourself a favor if you need some gear check AMS first, and you might get lucky and have Al or Gabe on your team. These guys are Musicians that care and understand other musicians.

I've purchased well over ten grand from AMS and will continue to do business with them. I've never had a problem with customer service and have always received my orders the next day after ordering. This is the most awesome musical supply company out there.
So I ordered a pair of presonus studio monitors and they took the money out of my account. Keep in mind the website said it was in stock. I got an email later last night saying it was on back order and I can either call and cancle or dont call and by that I agree to wait. So I call this morning to figure out when they get it in. They said they were supposed to get some in a few months ago so why would the item be listed as in stock and why would they take my money. I told the guy I want to refund and he told me the money should be in my account because it hasn't shipped. That's a lie because they took the money. So I had him refund it and I was really kind to him about everything and he was a jerk. Horrible customer service. I had to call netspend afterwards to reverse the transaction. Its bogus that these people would have their items in stock on the website and play this little game. I'm never shopping with them again because its sketchy and I dont trust them.i feel I would get better service from a 3rd world country. I just ordered my gear from amazon instead. This is why huge corporations are winning small businesses because this small business had I'll intentions. Proceed with caution.
I wouldn't trust this business. After finding a great deal on their site, I made a purchase. The next day I received a email with product cancelation due to "out of stock".
I decided to shop their site again hoping to find another, and ended up seeing the "last one" that I purchase raised at a higher price.
I decided to call them to assist me with the purchase since I was ok with the slight higher price. The male who helped me was pushy, as he kept pursuading me to buy their new one. Since I refused, he left
me listening to a loud disruptive noise, then transferred me to another person who tells me she doesn't see the sale item available-- which was available just 10 seconds prior before transferring me over to another rep.
This business tries to swindle customers. After reading several true reviews from different sites, other than theirs, you'll see the nature of how they run their business. Not worth the potential issues arising dealing with this business.
